Jersey City Republican Organization Questionnaire for BOE Candidates

We invite you to complete this questionnaire to share your position on key issues with Jersey City’s 15,000+ registered Republicans. Please respond directly inline and return your completed questionnaire to feedback@jerseycityrepublicanparty.com by October 20th.

Student Security & Safety

  1. Will you support policies that prioritize physical security of students, including hiring veterans and retired police officers for school security roles?
  2. What specific steps will you take to improve school safety beyond current measures (e.g., access control, threat assessment, coordination with local law enforcement)?
  3. Do you support consistent, enforced discipline policies so that violent or chronically disruptive students do not endanger or distract the rest of the student body?

Fiscal Responsibility & Vendor Transparency

  1. Will you require full public transparency on all major vendor contracts, including competitive bidding processes, scoring criteria, and the final selection rationale?
  2. How will you ensure that spending decisions prioritize classrooms and student outcomes over administrative overhead, consultants, or ideologically driven programs?
  3. Do you commit to regular, easy-to-understand public reporting on district finances so taxpayers can see exactly where money is going?

Stopping Ideological Propaganda & Indoctrination

  1. Will you actively work to remove partisan ideological content and propaganda from classrooms, curricula, teacher training, and school materials?
  2. Do you oppose the use of schools to indoctrinate students in contested political or social ideologies (including critical race theory-derived frameworks, gender ideology, or other activist agendas) rather than teaching academic knowledge and critical thinking?
  3. How will you ensure that instructional materials and professional development remain neutral, age-appropriate, and focused on academics instead of advancing any political or cultural agenda?

Academic Focus & Standards

  1. Do you believe the primary mission of public schools is teaching core academic subjects (reading, writing, math, science, history) to high standards?
  2. Will you support restoring or strengthening traditional academic standards and oppose lowering them in the name of equity or other non-academic goals?
  3. How will you measure success—primarily by student achievement data rather than process or equity metrics?

Curriculum Transparency & Parental Rights

  1. Do you support full curriculum transparency so parents can easily review all instructional materials before they are used?
  2. Will you require parental notification and consent before a student is socially transitioned at school or referred for counseling related to gender or sexuality?
  3. How will you protect the right of parents to opt their children out of lessons or surveys involving sexuality, gender, race, or politics without penalty?

Fairness & Student Welfare

  1. Do you support biological sex-based categories for sports, bathrooms, locker rooms, and overnight accommodations?

School Choice & Governance

  1. Do you support expanding educational options so that tax dollars follow the student (charters, education savings accounts, open enrollment, etc.)?
  2. If elected, what are the first three concrete policy changes you would push for in the first year?
  3. Will you commit to regular parent surveys and public forums where parents can question curriculum, spending, and policy decisions?
